Centenary Swim Team Conference Recap

The Centenary Swim Team did a phenomenal job at the 2025 SCAC Swimming and Diving Championships in Garland, Texas. From February 12th through the 15th, the team swam tirelessly, with the men’s team placing fourth overall and the women’s team taking sixth. Throughout the long four days, each swimmer pushed themselves to their limit and accomplished many great things. The team is proud to acknowledge that every swimmer was able to qualify for finals in at least one event, with most performing their personal best in multiple events.

The first night of the conference on Wednesday started out low for the team. Out of the eight relays that swam that night, one relay from the boys and girls was disqualified. This was a huge point loss for the team but as the head coach, Butch Jordan, put it, “Nobody dwelled on what happened on the first day with the relays. Everybody moved forward.” With each new day of the conference, the team continued to push on and grow. Despite most of the team being sick or injured, the team finished off the 2025 SCAC Swimming and Diving Championships happy with the results. Coach Butch commented on his thoughts about the team’s performance by stating, “To me, I like conference meets because I think they are fun. We were having a good time and that was the most important thing to me. Next year we will have a better time with the recruits coming in. Every year is different, but from what I know about the kids coming, they are going to be positive additions to our program.”

This season was very unprecedented for the Centenary Swim Team as they lost their original Head Coach, Thomas Radam, before Thanksgiving break due to health reasons. The team is grateful for the time and effort Thomas put into the beginning of the season as well as his continuous support with recruiting for next season. However, this change in coach staff has led to amazing growth and perseverance. Despite all the different issues, the team has stuck together and continued to push forward. They have already begun their training for next year and are ready to come back even stronger!
