The Centenary Swim Team did a phenomenal job at the 2025 SCAC Swimming and Diving Championships in Garland, Texas. From February 12^th through the 15^th, the team swam tirelessly, with the men’s team placing fourth overall and the women’s team taking sixth . . .

March Madness is one of the most exciting times in sports. It’s a college basketball tournament where the best teams from around the United States compete for the national championship. Every year, in March, 68 teams battle it out to see who is the best in the country . . .

As the 2024-2025 collegiate basketball season is quickly coming to an end, the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament is heating up. Over the past few years Women’s Basketball viewership has significantly increased, leading to record breaking numbers for not only the championship tournament, but also the regular season. With the outstanding growth rate in fans for NCAA Women’s Basketball Division 1 many have their own biases on who they believe will be the last four standing . . .

Gymnastics is often seen as a sport of grace and precision, but behind every flawless routine lies years of dedication, perseverance, and an unshakable bond between teammates. The Centenary gymnastics team recently showcased all of this and more in their latest competition, proving that their talent extends far beyond the mat . . .

In a commanding performance that left little doubt about their dominance, the Philadelphia Eagles captured their second Super Bowl title with a 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday, February 9th. 

School spirit plays an important role in unity and pride within our Centenary community. Participating in events and activities represents a shared enthusiasm and commitment that creates both an individual and collective positive school experience; and it’s just plain fun . . .

Over the last year, Centenary has adapted its sports facilities to grow with its athletes and student population. I interviewed David Orr to understand the vision for these facilities within the next few years. Along with getting student and faculty perspectives to see how these facilities have impacted their experience in athletics.

As soon as I was made aware that the SCAC Tournament would be hosted in the Gold Dome, I pictured us hoisting up that trophy in front of our home crowd. But before we get that deep let’s start with Friday.

Christmas Day has served as a staple for the NBA and its consumers for decades now. Like the NFL on Thanksgiving, fans look forward to marquee matchups between rival teams and stark competitors. This Christmas, the reigning champion Denver Nuggets matched up against the subtly-falling dynasty that is the Golden State Warriors. During a layover on the way to Shreveport from Las Vegas, I got the opportunity to tune into my Lakers getting whooped on by our archrival, that team in Boston . . .

College football has experienced a lot of drama over the past few week. The first weekend of December was Conference Championship weekend, where the top teams in every conference faced off against each other to be the last one standing at the top of their conference . . .

Both of my brothers play basketball and have played a myriad of other sports, including soccer, baseball, and track and field. Because of their involvement, I have listened to their pregame hype music many times, and I know many student-athletes here at Centenary also have their own pregame music that they use to get them in the zone. Homecoming week was kicked off Monday by our beloved Centenary Cheer Squad. Due to a rainy Sunday night, they were forced to move their performance from the Caf Deck to the inside of the Caf. They provided the Caf (if only for a single day) with an entertainment aspect that I hadn’t experienced at the Caf prior. It was nice to get a sneak peek at what our Cheer squad works so hard on; and the audible of turning the event indoors truly made for a memorable first impression on Homecoming Week. By Monday night . . .

Thirty-three years ago, Bill McCartney led the Colorado Buffaloes to a 10-9 victory over the formidable Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Orange Bowl, winning the school’s first — and only — National Championship in football. Just a couple of hundred miles away in Atlanta, the young two-sport phenom Deion Sanders was starting to make his name in the NFL and the MLB . . .

Recently, Zack Martin has agreed to a new, two-year contract worth 36 million dollars. This was after a holdout by Martin, wanting more than the 27.5 million he was set to collect from his original contract. He sat out of three weeks' worth of practice in order to become the third highest-paid guard in the league. Was this the right move by the Dallas Cowboys?
